Sistine Chapel Tours

How often do you look at the ceiling in your home or when you visit somewhere stately or noble like a Palace or Cathedral? You may well answer, rarely, unless you’re appreciating your own paintwork! Certain places require you to, look up. The Sistine Chapel in Vatican City is one place, don’t look up and you’ll miss out on some of the most spectacular artwork ever created. Commissioned by Sixtus IV, the Sistine Chapel is one of the Local Rome tours you must include during your stay. A Sistine Chapel tour will reveal the glory of the Vatican, you’ll see Michelangelo’s famous frescoes and other artwork from some great artists. You can skip-the-line, visit it by night or combine with other Vatican tours. With the opportunity to spot Michelangelo’s secret messages in his paintings (apparently there are some!), this is one ceiling you might spend plenty of time admiring!

  • Wonderful tour experience.
    By: Florence Kernahan

A wonderful tour experience for myself and my family. Although we could have done the guided tour we chose to do the unguided tour which allowed us the time to move at our own pace and connect with the Bus whenever we needed to do so. Many thanks.

Booked online before we arrived, paid for skip the line tickets for Vatican and Colosseum - well worth the money to avoid the long queues in that soaring heat ! Only downside is the collection point for Colosseum tickets is a good distance from the bus drop off point so you have to walk a good ten minutes to collect the entry tickets to then walk back to the Colosseum which isn't the end of the world except when you are tied for time !
