A Colosseum tour is a must-do in Rome. This popular tour combines an in-depth Colosseum tour with the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill; collectively the most significant sites of Ancient Rome.
Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide visit the Colosseum; Rome’s most recognizable landmark. Hear stories about the bloody past of the amphitheatre, tales of gladiators, mock sea battles and executions. Your tour group will benefit from skip-the-line access to the Colosseum.
You will climb to the top of the Palatine Hill, the most famous of the seven hills of Rome. From here you can admire views of the Roman Forum and Nero’s Circus Maximus where chariot races were once held. Romulus and Remus were said to have been found on the Palatine by the she-wolf who nursed and raised them. Legend has it that Romulus went on to found Rome.
Stroll along the Sacred Way, the main path through the Roman Forum which ends at the Temple where Julius Caesar was cremated. Visitors from around the world still leave flowers and light candles at this site today.
Our local partner for this tour has been selected based on the quality and service they provide. All tours are led by expert guides and conducted in one language only (many other operators offer multi-lingual tours). This means that you do more than just “see” the Vatican; you get an in-depth, insider experience.

The tour starts on the 2nd floor of the Colosseo Metro Station (Metro line B, blue line) near Largo Gaetana Agnesi. Your coordinators are wearing blue polo shirts or jackets.
Arrival by metro: After leaving the turnstiles in the Metro station, turn right into the tiled corridor to the escalator / stairs, just before the exit of the metro station. At the end of the escalator, turn right and then up the stairs to the exit. Go left at the exit to your left until you see steps that lead you to an oval course overlooking the Colosseum. This is the meeting point.
Arrival by bus, taxi or on foot: Drive / Walk to the Metro station "Colosseo" on the opposite side of the Colosseum, Via dei Fori Imperiali. Then go to the metro station, then turn immediately left into a tiled corridor (opposite the sandwich bar), it leads to an escalator - you need to pay a ticket and do not go through the turnstiles of the subway station. At the end of the escalator, turn right and then up the stairs to the exit. Go left at the exit to your left until you see steps that lead you to an oval square (Largo Gaetana Agnesi) overlooking the Colosseum. This is the meeting point.
Please report at the meeting point 15 minutes before the start time. This is mandatory to allow time for pre-departure briefing.
The tour ends at the Arch of Septimius Severus near Senate House (within the Roman Forum).
This tour enables you to skip the queue and explore the most significant sites of Ancient Rome. The tour will be led by the Administration of the Colosseum’s official tour guide, who apart from having extensive backgrounds in art, history and/or archaeology, are specialists on the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum.
Begin atop Colle Oppio with a panoramic view of the Colosseum. From there descend to the special Skip the Line access to the Colosseum. Once inside your guide will lead an in-depth discussion on the history of the amphitheater.
On leaving the Colosseum you will take a short break at the Arch of Constantine before you arrive at Palatine Hill, the most famous of the seven hills of Rome.
Further on, take a walk along the ‘Via Sacra’ or ‘Sacred Way’ which is the main path through the Roman Forum that once glittered with festivals and triumphal processions. It ends at the Temple which houses the altar where Julius Caesar was cremated.
After getting a deep insight into Rome’s history, the tour ends at the Arch of Septimius Severus near Senate House (within the Roman Forum).

Unfortunately this tour is not suitable for those with mobility problems. In case of last minute closures, for example the Roman Forum, the guide will still be providing a thorough explanation from the outside and offer an extended tour of the Colosseum instead.
On this tour, some of the venues or parts of the venue may be subject to last-minute, unpredictable closures. When this occurs, we are happy to offer customers an extended tour in keeping with the advertised total length of the tour.
Extra measures may be implemented at some venues due to heightened global security. As a result, we may experience delays in getting through mandatory security checks when entering these venues. Extra measures may also restrict the size of bags that can be brought inside. To avoid disruptions or possible denied entry, we strongly suggest that you avoid bringing large purses, bags, or backpacks on your tour. The Colosseum does not have any cloakroom facilities in which you can store such items.
