For your Pompeii Round Trip Shuttle from Rome, you can take advantage of the complimentary hotel pick-up or you can meet your guide at Terminal at Via Piemonte, 34 directly.

The journey to Pompeii takes around 5 hours and there will be two stops on the way.

First stop will be for 30 minutes in the historic city of Naples where you will have time to explore on your own. Naples has one of the greatest concentrations of historic monuments anywhere in the world. It boasts magnificent architecture, especially from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods.

Important landmarks in Naples you might like to see include the Piazza del Municipio, Umberto Gallery, San Carlo Theatre, Piazza del Plebiscito and the Royal Palace.

Just before arriving in Pompeii you will stop at a pearl and cameo factory.

Step back 2000 years and explore the ancient city of Pompeii, the world’s most famous archeological site. Together with the nearby city of Herculaneum, Pompeii was destroyed during a two-day eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in AD 79.

The catastrophic event buried Pompeii under 22 meters of ash and pumice, which preserved the city buildings and objects to a remarkable degree. The bodies of the citizens decomposed under the ash leaving spaces which were later filled with plaster or resin by archeologists to create eerie statues of the victims in the last seconds of life.

You can walk the streets where the citizens of Pompeii went about their daily lives. Notice how the stones are worn with cart tracks. Also look out for the stone blocks that allowed pedestrians to cross the street and which also acted as speed controls for carriages! In the ground you can see small shiny tiles called cat eyes. The moon’s light or candle light reflected off these tiles and gave light, so people could see where they were walking at night.

You can see the Forum, the center of cultural and political life, the bath houses, and the Lupanare (the brothel) with its erotic frescoes.

Look at some of the homes and see how the Pompeians lived. In the villas of the rich you can see many beautiful murals. A good example is the House of the Vettii an example of a home owned by wealthy merchants. You can also see the House of the Tragic Poet – a typical middle-class house which has a mosaic of a chained dog and the inscription “Cave canem” ("Beware of the dog!").

You can visit the The Anfiteatro (Amphitheater), where Pompeians went for entertainment, usually gladiator fights. As well as the plaster casts of the victims of the eruption, you will see many everyday objects such as pots, which survived under the ash.

After 4 hours at Pompeii, you will board the coach for the return to Rome.

MRS E L RUSSELL

I cannot recommend this service highly enough. The quick tour of Naples was very quick but it was sufficient to stretch legs after sitting for so long and even the comfort breaks were somewhere interesting and enabled a quick bite to eat and shopping opportunities. As for the hostess on the coach, Silvia, I cannot praise her highly enough for her language skills but most importantly her friendliness, helpfulness and interest in her passengers. She pointed out the interesting sights along the route to Pompeii with a short history and made it so much more than a long coach ride to Pompeii. I WILL be going with this company again and recommend everyone else to do so.

SHIHIYU

everything is very awful. but we caught in a traffic jam :(

ANGELA TOMA

This is a good way to get to Pompeii without having to have a tour guide and do the site at your pace, not theirs. Recommended for people who do not like tour guides.

JÜRI SOONE

It was very good organisation, very kind guids, very high attention to travellers.

Elita Purcill

I had an amazing day from start to finish -- from being picked up from my motel in Rome to Pompeii. The Tour guides were absolutely wonderful and exceeded all expectations and more. They were so friendly, humourous knowledgable and professional. I really admire what they do. The lovely girl tour guide on our bus and the lovely guy - who was our tour guide for Pompeii that joined us on the way -- he was so knowledgable and entertaining -- warm and friendly and certaintly knew his stuff.. he was a joy to be with. I travelled solo -- a traveller from Australia - and met another Oz couple on the tour as well as another couple and two lovely sisters. It was not a huge bus which was great -- and very, very comfortable journey. It was great to see Naples on the way and see the view from the beach to mnt Hericulous (sp?) -- dramactically across the sea on the way. It had been a life-long dream to visit Pompeii and I had to pinch myself to make sure I was not dreaming. The day was spectcular - jaw-dropping -- and plenty of time to see all the main areas which would not have been possible without our amazing tour guide who knew all the places and the history and stories, bringing it all to life .... I will certaintly travel with this tour company again and cannot recoomend them highly enough! Thankyou for an exceedingly wonderful experience and journey from start to finish and looking after me! Until next time!
