Your pizza making lesson takes place at the restaurant Via Merulana 256. This is near Ancient Rome and can be reached by Metro: Vittorio Emanuele, Bus: 714 or 16.

Arrive at the restaurant and be introduced to the Master “Pizzaiolo”. The nautical decor of hand painted oleo-graphics on the walls, high-ceiling grotto of fishing nets, crustaceans, and a miniature three-masted schooner complete the experience of feeling you have traveled to the south of Italy, if only for a few hours!

Hear about the background of the pizza, the social influences of pizza and its 100-year old history.

You will then move on to an explanation of the differences between various types of ovens, their construction, characteristics and how they are used to make pizza.

The chef will discuss the importance of the various qualities of flour and their origins, traditions and flavors associated with different regions.

This will be followed by an actual demonstration of the preparation of the dough and why the best pizza is not the most 'acrobatic'. After this, push up your sleeves and get messy as you roll your own pizza dough.

Finally, cook and taste the pizzas prepared by you and the class participants. Between mouthfuls you can enjoy a brief discussion with the chef on the various drinks that best accompany a pizza.

The cooking lesson ends with a presentation of a diploma of the restaurant attesting to your participation in the workshop.

Gabriele Lippolis

We had a great experience! We learned a little bit of history along with how to make great pizza. The staff at the restaurant was very friendly and created a fantastic morning of making pizza followed by a lovely lunch. The price was a little bit high but I don NOT regret spending the money on this tour.
