This excursion was great! It was more than what I had expected. Although it is a long drive it is well worth it. The tour guide spoke five different languages so she accomadated to everyone. The lunch that they served was probablly one of the best meals we had had on our 3 week vacation. Capri is known for their lemons so everything tasted so tangy and perfect. Although the Blue Grotto was a long wait it was well worth it. It only last five minutes but well worth the view. I recommend this trip to anyone who has extra time in Rome. It is an all day thing. We left at 7 a.m. and did not return until 11 p.m. Very enjoyable.

The trip was, in one word, fantastic. Before we boarded the trip, you are advised to ring the company to arrange a collection time from your hotel. I rang it on my mobile in Rome and was connected to a lovely English speaking woman who arranged my collection for the bus early morning which was easy and straight forward. The bus arrived at the exact time as promised and took us to the offices of the tour so we could hand our reciepts in and then board the next trip to Naples. There was a rest break stop which is a haven for smokers to have a break and grab a quick drink before heading into Naples pier. Once their we had a short while to look around before being taken by ferry to Capri. At first I did think that it would be nice to have more time in Naples as it wasn't long to spend, but the ports lovely and I would prefer to spend my time in Capri than in Naples. Once boarding the boat, its is extremely comfortable and smooth and takes roughly an hour before hitting capri. Capri is absolutely gorgeous and is very much the rich and the famous in white string bikins basking on the top of the speedboats. It is extremely picturesque filled with quaint little shops and eateries and somewhere I hope to retire someday! We then boarded a speedboat which took us to the entrance of the blue grotto where we waited in line to enter the cave. It was explained if the tide was too high to do this, then pompeii ruins would be an option. The entrance to the cave is small and you lay down to enter. Once in it is by no means claustophobic and the water is bright blue. The guys punting the boats are all singing which echoes round the cave, but do expect to tip for this! After having some more sunbathing on the boat we had a tour round a shop which sells hand carvings and were told about a table which turns into a poker, chess, draughts set. We then had some more free time to look around and I was bought a lovely amber swarovski bracelet from one of the shops. Capri is famous for its Lemon and there are many shops with souveniers to include, bath salts, chocolates e.t.c. We then set off to Ana Capri, the high point of Capri by coach. One tip though is dont look down when driving up there!! We had a wonderful lunch in a restaurant and the food was gorgeous. We were also given what looked lemonade to try, but its tastes like 90% vodka and a few more of them you'll be trollied! After lunch we took some gorgeous pictures of the high view points where we could see sorrento and had some romantic moments under the vines looking out accross the sea. Before too long we were making our way back to Rome and the tour guide was brilliant. Through Rome, he started taking about the history of the area and pointing out certain points of interests to us which is something that wasnt part of his job but was happy to fo. I was genuinely gutted when we were the first to be called off the coach. Altogether it was a fabulous holiday and we met some great people on the tour. The American couple (florida headmaster!) if your reading this hello! And also good luck to the family who were treating their daughter to a holiday before she headed off to Iraq. It was a brilliant trip and I would recommend it to everyone.
